Palmerston North Canoe Polo Needs Assessment

Project Description
The purpose of the report was to provide an independent Needs Assessment regarding the status and requirements of canoe polo in Papaioea Palmerston North. The report provides key stakeholders with insights into the current and future needs and facility requirements of canoe polo (along with other potential complementary users) in the area.
RSL’s Role
To lead the development of an independent needs assessment working with the Project Steering Group. RSL undertook engagement with a range of relevant stakeholders, including NZ Canoe Polo Association, pool managers and other aquatic sports. This engagement was complemented by secondary data reviews and analysis of membership data, use patterns and trends.
Project Outcome
The final report provides details of the supply and demand for canoe polo facilities in Palmerston North and the wider Manawatū area. It considers a range of options for future development and provides recommendations for further investigation of potential partnerships and facility development options through a detailed feasibility study.
