Mainland Football Facilities Plan

The provision of competition and practise facilities is a critical factor to help football remain a strong, vibrant sport. RSL Consultancy was engaged to develop a forward-thinking facilities plan outlining the future requirements of the sport.

Key issues identified included the lack of fields to play and train on, and the lack of fields with training lights. Population and participation trends were analysed to recommend where fields should be prioritised (either improving maintenance regimes at existing sites or developing new fields).

Several tools, including GIS mapping, were used to demonstrate supply and demand issues and challenges. Workshops were held with the client to discuss themes and propose some solutions.

A final report was completed that enables Mainland Football to take an evidence-based approach in their advocacy work with facility owners and funders.
