Nelson City Council Aquatic Facilities Strategy

RSL was engaged by the Nelson City Council to lead the development of an Aquatic Facilities Strategy. This was the first time such a strategy had been undertaken by the Council. We worked closely with the NCC staff, their contracted facility managers, facility users and other stakeholders to dive deep into their current provision to see how it meets current and expected future demand for water spaces.

With a significant facility just outside the NCC boundary it was important to consider provision on regional scale. The strategy also looked at major trends affecting current and future demand for pool space to ensure the future network wasn’t just more of the same. NCC can now use the information provided in the Aquatics Facilities Plan to guide decision making in their long term plan.
