Project Description

Hamilton City, Waikato District and Waipa District Councils are the major providers of sports fields in the central Waikato as part of the open space networks they manage and maintain. Winter sports code participants who benefit from this provision include those playing football, rugby and rugby league, their associated clubs, supporters and volunteers. This participation in organised sport provides benefits, including the overall physical wellbeing of participants and social connectedness.

Project Outcome

The purpose of this study was to understand the current provision of (supply), and the current and future requirements (demand) for winter code sports fields in the central Waikato. The study provides this assessment for the Hamilton City, Waikato District and Waipa District Council areas.
