Pedals, Planning, and Play: My DIY Field Trip Before IAKS 2025
What do you do when the field trip is cancelled due to low numbers? Easy, you create a field trip yourself. In this instance I got to combine two of my most favourite things; 1. Checking our facilities and all things planning, while 2. On a bicycle – the perfect combo.
The weather was a bit dodgy, but that didn’t stop some keen locals participating in a game of 3-a-side football utilising a commercially run caged turf. Did I mention I was on a bike? 😊
I’m attending the IAKS Congress this week, with the theme being Creating high-performing facilities for an active future. This congress programme looks fantastic and there is even a sprinkling of Aotearoa’s experts on the speaking list.
It will be interesting to see what innovations are occurring elsewhere in the world that I can bring back to share with the Recreation Sport & Leisure Consultancy Team and our clients; current and future.
Feel free to check out the programme (I'll put a link in the comments) and flick me a message if you have any questions.
Thanks also to those IAKS members or previous Congress attendees who gave me the feedback I needed to bite the bullet and come over here Shane Brodie, Yvette A. Iain Ansell Matt Body Zanta Jones.
More updates to follow.
