Bachelor Of Laws, Victoria University Of Wellington. Recreation Aotearoa Accredited Recreation Professional.

Originally coming from a legal background Deb has been working in the Recreation and Sport sector for many years. Since 2015 Deb has been working as an independent contractor working with Recreation Aotearoa and a number of sport and recreation consultants. Prior to that Deb held a number of senior roles in the recreation space at Sport NZ and its predecessors.

Deb has worked primarily with local government, regional sports trusts and national recreation organisations promoting recreation through good programming, governance and facility design.

Since 2015 Deb has been actively involved in over 20 facility and strategy peer reviews, contributed to the design and administered the Sport NZ National Facilities Benchmarking Tool and actively contributed to the development of a number of facilities strategies, feasibility studies and sports hub developments.

Deb works from home on the Kapiti Coast where she spends her spare time walking her 3 dogs on Peka Peka beach and collecting art.

Internships

RSL provides internship opportunities for students studying in the sector. Internships are customised as much as possible toward a student’s interests and future career aspirations.

Sponsorship

RSL supports industry groups through sponsorship opportunities. RSL sees the value in industry professional development and networking and therefore sponsors the Recreation Aotearoa National Conference. RSL has also supported other industry groups through contributions of time or financial support.

Mentoring / Peer Support

Individuals within the RSL team actively contribute to the career development of many young professionals through mentoring, both formally and informally. RSL team members also actively participate in sector peer reviews and are often invited to serve on industry panels.
